KIPEC Brief No.9
This brief includes key discussions from
the KIPEC Roundtable held on May 7, featuring Walter Roman, National Security
Advisor to Senator Dan Sullivan. The meeting focused on the Alaska LNG pipeline
project, which has gained policy and economic significance, particularly as
contracts for Alaskan LNG are emerging as a central issue in U.S. tariffs and
trade negotiations under a potential second Trump administration.
The analysis report also addresses renewed debate
over U.S. foreign and security policy priorities, following the February 28
White House summit between President Trump and President Zelensky. Discussions
continue over whether U.S. strategic focus should remain on Europe or shift
toward the Indo-Pacific region.
Additionally, the brief highlights key
points from a Congressional Research Service (CRS) report on Trump’s proposed
auto tariffs, along with notable legislative developments in the U.S. Congress
as of April 2025.
